Between November 15, 2012 and January 24, 2013, while awaiting the transfer of funds, the Uganda Orthodox Church acquired a construction permit from the Ugandan government. The constructor/engineer engaged in the construction of Archangel Michael School in Gulu was appointed for the construction of the school in Lwemiyaga because of the high quality of construction work as well as timely delivery of project outputs. The UOC subsequently put in place an agreement with the contractor/engineer to engage in the construction of the new school. Continue reading
In 2002, an idea was born in a seminary dorm room that has blossomed into something bigger than our wildest expectations. In the beginning, our goals were not ambitious… We sent a mere $450 the first year to eight students in Kenya. The small sum was enough to pay for the students’ tuition for an entire year. Since those early days of finding and choosing just a handful of students, we have spread our wings to include more in need.
Since those early days of finding and choosing just a handful of students, we have spread our wings to include more in need.Through the grace of God and the love of many, the Saint Nektarios Education Fund has provided over 430 scholarships and several operating grants to schools, distributing over $325,000 to needy students. And we have constructed three schools. Our current project in Uganda provides additional classrooms for over 450 students.
This year, we are working on constructing additional facilities on our Uganda campus, which will allow us not only to educate, but to house and feed the 450 students and staff. These improvements will include dormitories and teachers’ quarters, a bathing facility, an equipped kitchen and additional land for future expansion of the Gulu campus. Please consider giving a life-changing gift today. Based here in Colorado, the Saint Nektarios Education Fund is 100% volunteer-based—and over 95% of all dollars raised go to those in need. Your tax-deductible donation will ensure that more children have an opportunity to receive an education.
Once again, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for helping this idea become a reality.

Saint Nektarios Education Fund Founder and Board Chairman
During the period between November 15, 2012 and January 24, 2013 awaiting funds, the Uganda Orthodox Church did the ground work for the continuation of activities. Performa were collected for the procurement of fire extinguishers, and firms that would put in place lightening arresters and the single sitter desks were also identified. Continue reading

Wonder what we’ve been up to lately? Starting a new construction project for a new secondary school in Lwemiyaga, Sembabule District, Uganda! The government of Uganda undertook in 1993 to reform its primary education system, and succeeded in tripling primary school attendance, by 1999, over 1986 levels (from 2 million to 6 million). This has created the need for additional secondary school capacity that has not been fully addressed. This new project will establish a new secondary school for 240 day-students (no boarding) in a one-phase, one-year project. The Saint Nektarios Education Fund has awarded a $120,000 grant to its network partner IOCC for this project.
